BlackOut

BlackOut is an application droplet meant to be used from the Finder toolbar. Upon clicking it, it will launch your screensaver.

System Requirements

I built this in Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I'm assuming it'd work in Leopard and Lion but I could be mistaken.

Installation and Use

Download the app and put it in your Applications folder (or any other folder where you'll be sure not to accidentally delete it).

Once you found a home for it, drag it from its folder to the Finder toolbar. You will see a green badge with a plus sign show up where you can place it. Once it's in your toolbar, you can control-click/right-click to customize the toolbar and rearrange the icons.

In order to utilize password protection you must set your computer to lock when the screensaver activates. To do so, click on the Apple icon in the menu bar, go to System Preferences. Under Personal (the first category), click Security. Under the General tab, tick the box off that says "Require a password [...] after sleep or screensaver begins." From the dropdown, I've selected "immediately."

The lock icon was created by La Glanz studio, I just put some text beside it in Photoshop. I found it on IconArchive.com.
